New update for AutoClean 1.1.3

New update for AutoClean 1.1.3

We have released a new version of our data cleaning program AutoClean.
This update contains a lot of new functionality, see below for the highlights.

Support for Point Classification

Every point in AutoClean has a classification, this is a user definable number (0-255) assigned to each point, 0 means not used. When points are imported from LAS/LAZ the classification is decoded from the imported file. For all other formats the classification is not imported (all points will have a classification of 0). Classification functionality is available for every point in AutoClean (not just for laser data). This opens up a new world of capabilities to categorize or group points in your data set, for example you can assign a classification to a point by manual selection or by Automatic filtering, you can change the point visibility per class, colorize by classification is possible in the 3D View. Classification can be saved back to the LAS/LAZ file after editing.

Enable/Disable point files

Point files can now be enabled or disabled in the Project Properties dialog. This allows you to temporarily or permanently exclude files from the project without having to remove them completely.
When a point file is disabled then it will be: hidden from all views, excluded from all filter actions and excluded from any other export or edit action.

Support for point colors

-LAS/LAZ files often contain a color value per point (16 bit values for R,G,B). These are now imported and used, currently only be used for viewing.
In the 3D View a new View Mode was added to show the original colors.

Export Selected Areas(s) to Google KML file

The selected Areas can now also be exported to google KML format. Note that you must have set a project EPSG code because the kml is always in WGS-84 so the points can be converted. The kml file can be imported into Google Maps, Google Earth and many other GIS packages.

User Defined Grid Export

It is now possible to export the various grid attributes to a user defined ASCII file. The separator character, the field type and field order are definable (same as point export). The user defined formats are stored on disk and are easily re-used.

The “Customize Format” dialog including all the available fields looks as follows:

Launch CloudCompare from AutoClean

The Opensource (commercially free to use) program CloudCompare can now directly be launched from the Tools Menu. You need to select an inspection area first. All the enabled points in the inspection area are written to a temporary las file and this file is offered to CloudCompare via the command line.

You can download CloudCompare from http://www.cloudcompare.org/

Rejection display settings

Within the Slice View and the 3D View it was already possible to toggle the visibility of the Rejected Points on and off. Now we have added control on which rejected points are visible and which are not. This is done by looking at the rejection reason. In the View Properties Dialog, General Tab, you can select the visible rejection reasons. A point will become visible as rejected when its rejection reason is among the enabled (visible) rejection reasons.

Filter Selected Line

An extra selection method was added for filtering: Filter Selected Line. The filtering will be applied to the points that are contained in the selected file. Currently only one file can be selected. The file is selected by clicking on the track line in the Chart View.
