New Release BeamworX 2024.2
We just released a new version (2024.2) of the BeamworX software suite.
For a full description of the 132 resolved issues check the release notes that is distributed with the installer. Registered users will receive a download link via email.
Some highlights of the release are listed below.
1) Cross Check Tool
The Cross Check Tool is an effective QC tool, it compares a single selected survey line against a reference surface and produces the required statistics to determine the quality of the multibeam data. This reference surface is (automatically) created from a user definable source, e.g. a single manual value, the grid reference or design layer or the overlapping point files.
2) Automatic Refraction Correction
The new refraction correction algorithm can be used to eliminate refraction (sound velocity) errors in overlapping files. The algorithm can be considered a blend between the Overlap fixer and Refraction Correction Filter. It uses overlaps of pings between files to determine the magnitude of the Sound Velocity error. Once the error is determined it is corrected by applying Snells law correction. This is done in an iterative way, up to 5 iterations.
3) Isolate/De-isolate File
The new isolate functionality allows you to quickly select a single file and hide all other files.
You can now inspect/filter/edit it. Afterwards the file can be de-isolated, all other files are shown again. This is a very quick process.
4) Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) DigiPol
Added integration for RWS Digipol interpolation. This is a smart method for interpolating single beam data. Various options are available. The Digipol creates an ASCII grid file as result, this is automatically added to the project.
1) Chart display – Annotation and Soundings layer
Added two new layers:
Annotation Layer
Show various text/numerical labels on top of the other layers. It also has the option to show an image or a company logo.
Soundings Layer
Added a “real-time sounding layer” in the chart view. It can display all possible grid attributes like count, mean etc but also height difference versus design.
2) Chart Display – Bull’s Eye Functionality
The Chart Display can now be used as a “Bulls eye Display“.
In this mode e.g. a drop corer or an in situ density probe can be precisely positioned and visualized.
We added two new features for this:
Recenter on SOL/EOL/RangeMarker
Allow Recenter of the view on a Start of line (SOL) of the active line.
Also allow it on a range markers start or end, this makes it very flexible.
Auto Zoom out-in based on multiple objects
Zoom in/out on one or more locations/vehicles, with a max zoom distance.
The selected locations will all be kept into view automatically.
3) Watercolumn Data separate storage
Added an option to log Multibeam Water Column Data packets in an separate file. Uses same name as the bwxraw file but with extension bwxwcd. These files contains only the survey config and the WCD packets, (e.g. Reson 7042). It is now also possible to disable the watercolumn data logging, so it is just used for display purposes.
4) Anchor Handling update
The Anchor handling functionality was further refined: new midline buoy support , manual entry of drop positions and better visualisation in Chart Display.
